Why does my dryer vent keep clogging after it was cleaned?

Usually the duct itself is the problem. Cleaning removes lint. It does not fix crushed foil behind a dryer shoved into a tight basement corner. In St Davids, the pre-1940 stone and stucco homes vent low through the rim joist or a window well. Mulch, snow and boxwood block those exits. A kinked elbow traps lint again within weeks. Repair means replacing the flexible run with rigid metal, sealing joints with foil tape, and moving or raising the termination.

Second-floor and renovated laundries are a different job. Those runs go through attics or interior chases to a roof cap or gable vent. Unheated attic sections sweat in January and February cold, and the lint cakes into a paste on the duct wall. That does not vacuum out cleanly. Damaged sections get cut out and replaced.

Some things we find are not repairs at all, they are corrections. A dryer terminating inside a garage or crawlspace. A duct tied into an old unlined chimney flue in a twin or rowhome. A roof cap missing its damper with a bird nest inside.

Cost tracks run length, access, and whether wall or roof work is involved. Short side-wall swaps are simple. Long attic reruns are not.
